Marketing with Instagram
This week the textbook goes over how important and valuable using Instagram for marketing can be. The chapter breaks down all of the small components of Instagram and how important it is to your business.
The first part of the chapter goes
over some of the demographics of Instagram users and how social media platforms
are much more present in the younger generation. The popularity spans the most popular
between the ages of 13 to 17 and 18 to 29. This information is key for businesses
to understand when figuring out how to market using Instagram. I feel like most
businesses need to focus on marketing to the ages that use social media the most
by making the most similar to the culture that is occurring at the time.
Instagram is starting to become
more suited to marketing which is a huge step in the right direction for businesses.
I thought this was a great thing for businesses to now take advantage of so
that they are able to fully able to use it. One of the newer features for businesses
that I feel they need to take advantage of is to use the numbers that they give
you every week/month of who is looking at their page, etc. Since Instagram was invented,
the numbers have grown tremendously not only with uses but with all the
features that come about with it. There are now specific profiles, a
professional dashboard, and they have the ability to post longer videos about
the product or service that they are able to offer. This allows Instagram to be
so useful for businesses that allow them to be more marketable as Instagram
continues to grow.
One of the big things that businesses
need to understand is the Instagram algorithm. Instagram uses a variety of
algorithms, classifies, and processes to rank content across its different features
like feed, stories, explore, reels, and search. Instagram ranks its algorithms with
multifaceted and tailored to each feature within the app, aiming to deliver a
personalized and engaging experience for users while maintaining a safe and positive
environment.
