Men's Soccer on a 2 game win streak!

Ohio Northern Men’s soccer is now on a two-game win streak after picking up a win against Trine on Wednesday afternoon. The Men’s soccer team was able to hold on to a shutout against a solid Trine side. Alex Shaffer scored the first goal of his college career Wednesday afternoon after the ball bounced to him in a corner. Ryan Sommerfeld finished off the scoring later in the second half with his third goal of the season for the Polar Bears. Lucas Hickey came up with a huge penalty kick save that would keep Trine scoreless for the game. The Polar Bears would have a total of 20 shots and 9 on target. They would keep Trine to just one shot on target which would be the penalty save from Hickey.

The Polar Bears have started off the season with one of the hardest schedules in the country. The team has the 7th hardest schedule in Division 3. The Polar Bears picked up a big win to help turn the tide on some struggles early in the season as they would beat North Park with a score of 2-1. Will Shaffer would score the first goal for the Polar Bears in this game off a pass from fellow Captain Brenden Gervers. The Polar Bears conceded a penalty kick goal in the middle of the second half. The Bears would not stop fighting and took off a cross from Ryan Sommerfeld to Nolan Shirmer to cap off the game for the Polar Bears. Coming into the game, North Park would be ranked #25 in the national rankings, so this is a great win moving forward.

The Polar Bears play a solid Rose Holman side on Saturday as the Men’s Soccer team hopes to continue the good run of games and win their third straight game for the first time this season. As always, GO BEARS!!!
