Chapter 8: Pinterest

Chapter 8 in the textbook is all about how Pinterest is a good reliable source for business that can help businesses market better. In this chapter, there were a few things that I noticed that businesses could do to use Pinterest to sell their products. There are many tactics and ideas that are crucial to businesses that buyers notice which allow them to buy their products.

There are some statistics that I wanted to start by pointing out. These statistics allow buyers to make Pinterest interesting and exciting. The book states that 93% of users on Pinterest use social media sites to plan if they want to purchase a product or not. When I see this stat, it makes sense to why businesses are so big on the social media side of posting and trying to grow their product. It is obvious that Pinterest is such a big spot to do so. Another statement in the book was that 87% of the users actually buy items because of Pinterest. If this isn’t a sign for a business to get Pinterest on their website, then I have no idea what could. There was a statistic in the book that talked about gender distribution which is an important aspect of social media and posting. It stated that about 75% of Pinterest users are women, which allows businesses to target a mostly women audience and make the demographics towards this.

Pinterest has a shop aspect that has been added that allows businesses to be able to post and be bought by users. Businesses are able to pin their products to where they are able to be grouped together and put into a certain tab called the “Shop” tag that can be easily found. The shop tab allows users and buyers to not have to search for a while. There is another feature that is added to Pinterest that is called “Your Shop” which is where users are able to have a shopping page that tailors to their interests and their activity on the app.
